Back from San Antonio
But you probably didn’t know I was gone.
I had to work my organization’s annual conference which was held in San Antonio. We were there from March 5-March 9. I stayed at one of the city’s haunted hotels, the Sheraton Gunter. When I arrived, I announced to the room, “Don’t mess with me and we’ll be fine.” I didn’t have any problems, however, my boss did on the last night. He said he felt someone sitting on his bed and they were poking his leg. Everyone in San Antonio seems to be matter-of-fact about the spirits in the city which I thought was interesting in and of itself.
I really didn’t get to see much of the city except at night. My days started at 7 a.m. and ended around 9 p.m. I did eat a lot of Tex-Mex (time to get back on the Weight Watchers/Wii EA Sports Active wagon) and drank some margaritas. Apparently they know you’re a tourist if you order a frozen margarita. One of my waiters sniffed when I asked for one. All of my dinners were spent on the Riverwalk except one night when a group of us went to some sports bar to watch the Duke-UNC game.
All in all, San Antonio is a nice city (except for the ghosts). I even got a chance to see the Alamo which looked smaller in person. Or maybe the history of it made it seem larger than life.
