Caboodle Kit Layouts

I’ve been working on these layouts so you can see samples made with the January Kit of the Month.

Included in the kits is a four-color instruction guide.  This guide gives you cutting instructions and a layout pattern, as well as some instructions for stamping and creating the embellishments.  Someone once told me that the layouts looked too advanced for her and I explained that it doesn’t matter your level of scrapbooking because the instruction guide is pretty easy to follow.  Really, anyone can do them.

Layout 1 – “A Cat’s Life”

Materials:

The instruction guide shows a boy layout.  I have boys, but they’re not human so I put my own twist on it.  This layout shows the kitties getting high off of crocheted cat nip toys that their Aunt Elisa made for them this past Christmas.  (Elisa, if you’re reading, as always, the toys were a hit.  And they’re still taking hits.  Ha ha).

I also used a different stamp set for the title and for one of the embellishments (the “gotcha”).  That’s the beauty of these kits–you can use your creativity to come up with what’s applicable to you.

Layout 2 – “‘Backyard’ Bliss”

Materials:

  • Caboodle Kit of the Month
  • June Word Puzzle (“Summertime…, “not a care in the world”) – I believe this stamp set was discontinued.  :-(
  • Cricut Die Cut Letters and Sun shape – “Doodlebug Type”

This is the bonus layout that comes with the kit.  They don’t include the pattern or the cutting guide, but when you sign up for the Kit Club, you’ll get it as part of your club membership every month.  This goes for the bonus card patterns too.

This layout was a little tricky for me.  In the guide, it’s a layout of a little girl at the beach.  Again, I don’t have kids, so I was briefly stumped as to what I could use here.  Then I remembered I took some pictures over the summer of the deck furniture Brian and I bought.  We were very excited about the furniture because the deck is our backyard (not much land around where we live) and we try to spend time out there when the weather is warm.

For kicks, check out the deck during our recent snowstorm.  (This picture was taken through the screen door which is why you see those weird lines).

I’ll show you the cards in an upcoming post.

Glad to hear the boys are hooked on the catnip…. the new toys from Christmas are getting a work-out at my house, too. Thanks for making your layouts with non-children photos. (i’m still envious of your patio furniture.)
