Unfortunately, due to copyright issues, I can’t give you the patterns, but you can cardlift the design or you can get the Wishes book for your creative library.

Read on for the original post explaining how this project started.

I have a confession to make…I’m not really into making cards.  I am more comfortable making layouts and I have a hard time figuring out how to design a card.  I know many cardmakers who say the same thing about making layouts.

However, I’ve been reading a lot of blogs where people are making beautiful works of art with cards.  For example, Debbie over at Thinking Inking makes gorgeous cards and does wonders with Copic markers.  I’ve been studying her work for months and I’m now inspired to push my creativity and get into cardmaking.

This past weekend:

1) I bought some Copic Ciao markers from JoAnn’s because they had a 50% off coupon and that’s a great deal when you’re buying Copics because they’re expensive.

2) I inquired about a Copic/cardmaking class that starts in June at my local scrapbook store.

3) I decided to make cards from all of the patterns in the Wishes Card Confidence book.  (Notice the word “confidence” in the title.)

In total, I will be making 85 cards.  I’m going to make one every week and post them here.

I figure by Card #50, I will be a Creative Copic Cardmaking Force!

But for now, I give you my first card from Wishes–the “Simple Statement” pattern:

Materials/Techniques:

  • I used my EK Success Circle Cutter to make the card.  I could’ve used the template from the CD that comes with the Wishes book, but I can’t cut straight.
  • The paper and swirls (inner circle) are from the CTMH Felicity paper pack.
  • Thank You stamp set
  • Embellishments – Just Blooms, Clear Buttons, Basic Brads, Waxy Flax (thread in the button)
  • I glued the button on Desert Sand cardstock with Liquid Glass.  It gives an epoxy look.

If you want to work along, I would love it!  Unfortunately, due to copyright issues, I can’t give you the pattern, but you can cardlift the design or you can get the Wishes book for your creative library.  It’s worth it.  Be sure to share your artwork on the Crop Candy Facebook page or provide a link to your design in the comments section below.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

P.S. – If you use Copics. I’d love to hear your tips on working with them.
