Five Tips for Making Mini Albums the Close to My Heart Way

I was inspired by this blog post to come up with some mini album tips with a Close To My Heart spin.

1.  Start with a blank mini album.

Sure, you could construct your own book, but sometimes it’s easier to go with something already manufactured.  CTMH’s line of My Creations albums come in a variety of styles (board books, memory showcases, acrylic, etc.)  These blank slates are fun to decorate!

2. Use materials that will create a unifying look for your pages.

When I make a mini album, I make sure that I use a paper packet whose design supports my mini-album topic.  Using one paper packet also ensures that my colors coordinate with one another.  I also use layout patterns to maintain a certain style continuity throughout my book.

3. Add texture and dimension.

There are a few ways to do this.  Rub-ons, embossing powders or glitter can add texture to your pages.  You can also stamp an image and then mount it with foam tape to add dimension, or use Dimensional Elements chipboard shapes and alphabets.

4.  Don’t overdo the embellishments.

You don’t want to add too much bulk to mini albums.  Some ribbon or metal accents here and there are okay, but consider using MyStickease.  All CMTH paper packs have coordinating Stickease that will make your pages pop!

5. And most of all, make it from your heart.

Can’t add anything more to that!
