How Will You Celebrate Dad on Father’s Day?

June is always a packed month in my family.  On June 6, we celebrated my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary.  On June 9, Brian and I celebrated our second anniversary.  The 22nd is my parent's anniversary (46 years).
My birthday is June 21.  This year will be a special birthday for two reasons–I turn 40 (more on that in another post) and it's also Father's Day.
About three years ago, my father bought an Army scrapbook kit from K&Company.

At first, I thought he was going to take up scrapbooking and record the time he spent in the Army after graduating from Howard University.  Instead, he handed it over to me.  My mother organized the photos and they both wrote down some memories of their time in Colorado Springs where my father was stationed as a medic.
I finally completed the book last night and I will present it to my father on Saturday when we will celebrate our housewarming/my birthday/Father's Day/parents' anniversary.

The best thing about doing this book was I got to see my parents' world in the 60s as newlyweds in their early 20s.  They're both natives of Washington, D.C. and these city kids were plopped smack dab in the Rockies.  (Gosh, they look so young and innocent).
I also see the transformation of my father from a young college graduate to confident young man.  Thank you U.S. Army for making him into the dad I know and love today.

So how will you celebrate Dad on Father's Day?
Happy Father's Day to dad's everywhere!

Carolyn, that is so sweet it brings tears to my eyes! I know he will love it! I’m working on a similar album of my parents dating when my Dad was in the Air Force (Army Air Corps) in the 40′s. Too cool!
Happy Birthday! Don’t worry – ’40′ is not too bad! Especially when you’re 48 and staring ’50′ down in the face! LOL Enjoy!
