Stamping 101: Generation Stamping

Generation stamping is stamping an image multiple times without re-inking between impressions.  Watch this video to see the different kinds of effects you can get with this technique.

Dream card

  • Unforgettable patterned paper
  • Aspiration stamp set
  • Desert Sand and Sorbet inks
  • Juniper grosgrain ribbon
  • Card pattern – Wishes: Mini Combination (see p. 84 for assembly instructions)

This example shows first, second and third generation impressions:

Here’s the final card.  The flower is a second generation stamped image with a first generation outline image stamped over it.  The sentiment shows first and second generation stamping to create a shadow effect.

  1. Carolyn – nice video. I have seen the 2nd and 3rd generation stamping but never with the words. Very nice effect and I’ll give that a try soon!

  2. It’s very cool with words especially if you like creating shadows/drop shadows.
